Acupuncture for Whole-Body Wellness
Acupuncture, a form of treatment using needles along specific points on the body, can be helpful in all sorts of areas, from managing stress and anxiety to speeding up recovery from injury. We have both traditional acupuncture and medical acupuncture (also called dry needling) at West Norwood Therapies and three different practitioners, all of whom are highly skilled in their field.
This ancient therapy is known for its ability to restore balance and promote natural healing. Whether you're looking for traditional acupuncture grounded in Chinese medicine or a targeted medical acupuncture approach for muscular issues, our West Norwood acupuncturists tailor treatments to your specific needs.
How acupuncture can help
If you are struggling with chronic stress, anxiety, hormonal issues, insomnia, digestive issues, fatigue or any long-term condition like CFS or long covid, acupuncture can be a great choice to help.
People visit us for support with:
Acupuncture can be particularly helpful in balancing and regulating systems like your digestive system, nervous system and hormonal system, all of which can be a profound support in moving through physical and emotional challenges in life.
With its effect on hormonal systems, it is also a great choice for anyone looking for support with menstrual health, fertility, pregnancy or peri-menopause. Philippa is a specialist in these areas, and Miha can support here too. (more info below)
Acupuncture can be used to speed up healing from injuries and break down stubborn tensions, either as a standalone acupuncture treatment or as part of a massage treatment with Tessa or Miha.

"Fantastic experience with Philippa. I went for acupuncture to regulate my monthly cycle and found it hugely beneficial for my physical and mental health. Philippa has a lovely, gentle nature and is so caring and kind. She even cradled my baby while treating me! Wonderful sessions that I always looked forward to. Don't hesitate to book!" - Nicola

Explore and book our acupuncture styles and practitioners:
We have two traditional Chinese medicine acupuncturists, Philippa and Mike (Mihaly) who you would see for full acupuncture treatments and one sports massage therapist who uses needling as part of her massage treatments, Tessa.
Philippa works with a broad range of physical and emotional issues and has a particular interest in women's health and sometimes uses some tui na massage.
Mike incorporates other Chinese medicine techniques like cupping, guasha and moxa into his treatments and uses a lot of tui na massage too.
Both Philippa and Mike do a longer session for your initial treatment to allow for an in depth consultation. With Philippa this is a 45min zoom or phone consultation ahead of your treatment, with Mike it is a 30min in-person consultation, so your first session would be 90mins rather than an hour.
Tessa's style of acupuncture is known as 'medical acupuncture' or 'dry needling' and works as part of her massage treatments on musculoskeletal aspects only.
For more information please see our blog about the different approaches: Acupuncture at WNT - Three different approaches - Who should I see? - Jan 2024
